Dunkirk or in French Dunkerque was the largest military evacuation still to date.

338,226 men were saved from the beach as Germany began to surround the French and English troops.

Small fishing boats were commissioned for war efforts to help with the evacuation.

The Miracle of Dunkirk or Operation Dynamo began May 27, 1940 and was completed on June 4, 1940. (An 8-day evacuation)

This fine sand comes from the beach where hundreds of thousands of British and French soldiers stood waiting for a miracle to escape the on-coming German invasion.
